K4 B - Moon-9

On February 3, 1966, after three days of flight, the Soviet spacecraft Luna-9 made the first soft landing on the Moon. To commemorate the anniversary of this event, which became an undeniable sensation, a limited edition watch was released.
To convey the magical beauty of the night sky, the brand's designers use an aventurine plate on the dial. It is characterized by a special iridescent shine, which is created by the inclusion of small plates of mica and hematite. On a watch dial, this glow evokes distant stars and mysterious nebulae.
A tinted relief plate features a three-dimensional figure of the spacecraft with its recognizable "petals"—the covers that positioned the apparatus vertically on the lunar surface. The date window is highlighted with a e frame. The hour and minute hands are coated with a luminescent compound that glows in the dark. The applied indices are finished with mirror polishing. The dial is protected by sapphire crystal.
The watch case of the anniversary series is a square with smoothed corners, the so-called “Cushion”. It is made of stainless steel, and its lines are emphasized by alternating finishing techniques (mirror polishing and matting).
The case back is engraved with the historical date, 03.02.1966, the name of the series “Luna-9” and three-dimensional images of the Earth and its natural satellite, connected by the orbital line along which the Luna-9 spacecraft moved. A special window reveals the automatic movement's components, including the decorated rotor. A separate line of information details the unique model number and batch number.
The case back is secured with four screws. Water resistance is 10 atmospheres. The watch is mounted on a stainless steel bracelet with a folding butterfly clasp with two side buttons.
Luna-9, 58 cm in diameter and weighing 100 kg, operated for 75 hours, sending back the first images of the lunar surface, measuring radiation levels, and determining the absence of a magnetic field. The successful landing of the uncrewed interplanetary spacecraft put the USSR far ahead in the lunar race.
